The Down and Dirty – Yelp for Auto Repair
Yelp is one of those love hate relationships. LOVE – our business is rewarded because we are honest and work hard for our clients. HATE – when our client’s reviews are filtered or when a competitor thinks it is a great practice to write a bogus review and it sticks! Of course, from time to time, we have a client who has an auto repair experience which is unfavorable, and while I don’t love it, I look at the review as an opportunity to fix something that may be an issue with our process, staff, or just a misunderstanding that can be corrected.
The Yelp Process at A+ Japanese Auto Repair in San Carlos
We see about 10-15 new auto repair clients from yelp and average three, 5 star reviews per week!
This is how it starts, we get a phone call that goes something like this… ”I saw all of your great reviews, I’m tired of paying the dealership prices, and I have been looking for a great repair shop to bring for my Honda. Can you guys work on my car?”
Of course we can work on your car So, we schedule them, inspect the car, send pictures of any trouble areas, explain the necessary repairs and explain what repairs can wait until service, and finish up with a final check over to make sure everything is perfect before the customer takes the car.
It’s up to the client
At this point, we have given the best auto repair experience for our client. With fingers crossed, the waiting game begins. Did we do enough so that a client is willing to spend their time to write a review? Did we leave a great impression during the car service at our shop in San Carlos? Does this A+ Japanese Auto Repair client use yelp? For many A+ Japanese Auto Repair clients, the answer to the questions are YES! We are so fortunate to be leading the auto repair category in San Carlos and the cities surrounding A+ Japanese Auto Repair.
Filters… part of life
If you are a “yelper” and especially a business owner, you know about filtered reviews. We have more filtered reviews from customers than actual auto repair reviews that stick. With over 250 reviews, which people spent time to write… on today’s date we only have 118 reviews that show up. How crazy it that? I know, it’s crazy.
We have called, e-mailed, questioned, requested, pointed out legitimate reviews, and have done everything except for going to Yelp head quarters to ask for some of our reviews back! No luck. So our take on the reviews is this, 1 out 2.5 reviews will stick, therefore, we will keep working hard, take care of the customer the best that we can, and hope for best!
