Honda Civic - A Quick Look

The Honda Civic is a great line of compact cars. When A+ Japanese Auto Repair opened our doors we knew this fuel efficient vehicle would be seen a lot at our auto repair facility. The Honda Civic was introduced in July 1972. The Civic has come a long way since then. So here is a fun fact about the civic:

  • By 2007 over 17 million Honda Civics had been sold worldwide!
  • 7.5 million of those were sold in the United States! By 2012

(Below is the first generation Honda Civic with the latest model year next to it. The civic started with humble beginnings in 1972 and stayed true to its roots. The fuel efficient, compact, sporty Civic)

From 1984 – 2005, models used a timing belt in their engine. For the earliest models, replacing the timing belt at 60,000 miles was recommended. In the 1990s it was recommended that the timing belt be changed at 90,000 miles; later models at 105,000 miles. Timing chain motors began in the 8th generation Civic in 2006 - which has no interval other than if the chain gets noisy. We have seen no major engine or transmission problems in the Civic; at around 150,000 miles or 15 years pay close attention to the plastic radiator tanks because the upper tank will usually crack and the slow leak will cause the vehicle to overheat. We see at least 10 of these a year and sadly, most clients are forced to retire their car.

In June, 2008, with high gas prices and a weak economy, Civic supplanted the Ford F-Series to become the top-selling vehicle in the United States for that month. At A+ Japanese Auto Repair we have seen many of the issues that can occur with the Honda Civic. We stock all of the common parts and offer a 24 month/ 24,000 mile warranty, the longest warranty in the area, which saves our clients time and money. We always perform a thorough inspection before any service or repair is performed, and we offer a more customized auto repair and service, keeping your vehicle in line with factory warranty and service schedules.

Since this first Honda Civic was released they have come a long way. A+ Japanese Auto Repair is the bay area's experts when it comes to Honda Civic repair and auto service. We have seen many of the common issues that can occur with the Honda Civics which saves our clients time and money on their Honda Civic auto repair and diagnosis needs. If it is time to have your Honda Civic service contact us today for an appointment. We look forward to meeting you and your Honda Civic.

On the more Recent model years Honda has standardized many parts and service schedules. Its not always easy to decipher what needs to be done based on time or mileage. That is why A+ Japanese Auto Repair always performs a thorough inspection before any auto service or auto repair is performed on clients vehicles. This is due to the fact that each clients driving style and patterns differ. We offer a more customized auto repair and auto service option than other facilities while still keeping your vehicle in line with factory warranty and service schedules.
