I STAND CORRECTED. After giving a negative review to the auto shop, Eric, the owner, called me to discuss this matter. I was quite surprised. Apparently, their suggestion to replace the radiator was valid but not crucial. The leak was at the bottom of the radiator by the transmission coolant lines. I don't now know if my mechanic would have initially caught that without lifting the vehicle and doing a thorough investigation. So......I will give A+ Japanese Auto Repair the benefit of the doubt. Too date, no problems. The radiator may need to be changed in the future but for now..... I'm going to keep on moving.

I recently had an oil change (gift from my boss) and before I left they told me that my radiator was leaking. Little do they know that I already have a mechanic in Mt. View (honest and excellent, I might add, Michaux Automotive). So, I immediately went to my mechanic to have them check it out. My mechanic found nothing wrong with the radiator. Looks like my mechanic was right...still no overheating or leaks. I am really disappointed that auto shops still play this game and will tell you anything so they can get more of your hard earned money. BUYER AND WOMEN BEWARE!

I was more than pleased with A+ Japanese Auto Repair. I have dealt with car service departments for many years and my experience with A+ was quite a pleasant surprise. From the beginning to end I was shown why I will certainly be a repeat customer.

I was more than pleased with A+ Japanese Auto Repair. I have dealt with car service departments for many years and my experience with A+ was quite a pleasant surprise. From the beginning to end I was shown why I will certainly be a repeat customer. There was someone there to greet me as I drove in and immediately take my care in on time. I was given the option to wait for the car in their waiting room or they would take me to a nearby shopping center and pick me up as soon as the car was ready. The car was ready and washed in short amount of time and the charge for the service was a lot less than I have been paying for years at the dealership. Can't say enough about the pleasant experience. Thanks so much

I was referred here by a co-worker's friend and I am glad they told me about this place. I called and talked to Rob who is exceptionally friendly and accommodating and I told him my brakes were grinding and that I needed an oil change. He gave me a rough estimate of approx. $35 for the oil change and possibly up to $300 for new brakes, but obviously couldn't quote me a definitive price until they looked at my car. I dropped my car off on Friday night and utilized their after hours drop off which is really handy. They started working on my car early Saturday morning and called me around 10:30am to give me the news. I needed completely new rear brakes as it was metal on metal, but the front ones were fine and it would be a total of $698 including the oil change. So it was a lot more than I anticipated, but I guess the work needed to be done. I paid over the phone using my credit card and the Yelp coupon and then when the finished my car on Saturday afternoon, they placed the keys in the vehicle so that I could come and get it Saturday evening after they had already closed. This was all very convenient for me. Sorry I never met Rob in person, but he is a very delightful person. The work appears to be done completely and thoroughly (not like I can see the brakes, but they feel nice when I stop my car). The after hours service is very helpful and the location is great too. The only thing on the somewhat negative side is just that it was waaay more than I anticipated, but I guess that's the going rate for rear brake repairs. I would definitely go there again. Thanks!

Hi Alexandra, It is so nice to hear about your experience at our auto repair shop. We started that night drop off service for our auto repair clients just so you don't have to be inconvenienced during the day time. I am happy that you took advantage of that! The reason that the price was a little higher than quoted was that we had to replace the rear brake rotors instead of just resurfacing them. Normally, you might be able to resurface brake rotors about 3-4 times before they need to be replaced but once they go metal to metal the brakes pads will damage the rotors enough to where they need to be replaced. We hope to help you in the future for your automotive repair needs!! (and a little side note... Rob said thank you and he is a "delightful person". You brought a smile to his face with that!!) :)Owner - Eric Sevim - aplusjapaneseautorepair.…

So I'm usually too lazy to write reviews. In fact, this is my first one ever! But I felt compelled to write one cuz these guys are great! I was able to bring it the next morning on a Saturday and found out I needed to replace my battery. They were able to squeeze me in. Rob was awesome and said I could wait while my car was being checked. Less than an hour later, my battery got replaced and they even managed to wash my car! And I was able to enjoy the rest of my weekend..

I took my hybrid here for its 60,000 mile servicing and to get my brakes checked out. Rob was friendly and courteous and allowed me to claim the $25 Yelp offer without having to go through the process of purchasing the credit via Yelp. He spoke mainly to my husband (90% of the conversation), who I had brought with me to the shop so I could borrow his car afterward. It surprised both of us, as we thought it was pretty sexist behavior. Maybe this is normal protocol for mechanics, I'm not quite sure. Rob called and worked directly with my husband for the approval of repairs, which wasn't surprising after our morning discussion. The repairs ended up being much higher than I expected, though I believe they did a good job and I was happy that all of the work could be completed in a day. If I have an issue in the future, I would bring my car here again but send my husband to drop it off.PROS: - they washed my car as an added bonus, - they were very organized and timely CONS: - if you're a woman, it might be better for you to send your man into the shop to do the dirty work, I saw a few reviews mention this as well so I know it's a shared sentiment, - prices are a little steep, but they fixed all of my issues in one day

Hi Brittany! Thank you very much for your review of the shop. My name is Eric Sevim, one of the owners of A+ Japanese Auto Repair in San Carlos. I appreciate your feedback about the where Rob paid his attention. I have spoken with him and although he wasn't aware that he was doing it, he is very aware of it now. He will be asking the clients who he should be working with on the specific car so that this doesn't happen again. We hope to help you in the future with your car repair!Regards,Eric Sevim

Your first review and a 5 Star!! How awesome! Thank you so much for your review about replacing your battery. We have found that keeping the automotive repair shop open on Saturday is perfect for people that have last minute things and that just can't get in during the week!Again thank you very much for your time and for writing the review, it means a lot to us.Owner - Eric Sevim - aplusjapaneseautorepair.… | 650-595-2277

These guys are awesome! I couldnt recommend them enough! I am a young woman who knows absolutely nothing about cars. The guys at A+ were so helpful and walked me through every step of my repairs, kept me in the loop with daily updates, and made sure I understood everything and they gave me tons of different options. They fixed my car quickly and got me back on the road in a much safer car! However I was most impressed when my car started acting funny after I picked it up. I called A+ and they sent a mechanic out to my house to fix it....free of charge! What amazing service! I think my car and I found a home as A+. I will definitely be bringing my car back to them in the future.
