Let me start by saying I used to always work on my own cars before I moved to the bay area so I am always critical of my mechanic's value and service.I live up in the city and usually bring my car to another shop, but last week my ignition lock cylinder broke on me while I was at work in belmont. A friend of mine recommended me to the shop and i really didnt have a choice so I brought my 96' jeep in for repair. Justin did an excellent job of explaining to me how thier mechanic found out that my ignition switch also needed to be replaced which is what caused my lock cylinder to brake for the second time in one year. Basically they fixed the problem instead of patching up the symptoms. That equals savings for me in the long run. On top of that they cleaned my car and filled it up with gas because it was low. All that for no extra charge! I will be back to their shop the next time my car needs service. Thanks Justin and A+ Japanese auto mechanic!

I have never been to a better or more honest shop. Eric and Adam (the owner / brothers) have continously maintained this shop, the mechanics and the front staff at the highest level. Latest kudos, after doing an engine replacement on my Turbo Subaru 2 years ago at 140K miles, I started having a sound at low RPMs, A+ investigated and found it to be a tensioning pulley that had a broken bolt...they have to do a lot of labor to get it all out and replaced. All at no cost under warranty of the engine replace.I have often considered buying a BMW or an Audi...but one of the main reasons I keep buying Japanese cars is so I can have them worked on at A+Thanks Eric and Adam!

Friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable. I felt that Rob Lucas' service recommendations were reasonable and appropriate without pushing for the "kitchen sink" approach for every possible service.

I came in for an oil change and an inspection of my car. I was helped by Justin who was incredibly friendly and accommodating. One thing I found very useful is that they actually take pictures of the parts of your car that need repair and explain to you exactly what the issue is. The time and price estimates for the repairs were very accurate.

As a senior with a 10 year old Suzuki I was quite nervous when the check engine light was glowing! I am really impressed with the courtesy at A+ Japanese Auto including transportation home and back plus a very clean car waiting for me. Justin explained every detail and made what could have an ordeal instead a pleasant experience. I have already recommended A+ Japanese Auto to my neighbors!

I recently bought a 2010 Mazda 5. According to another workshop near my workplace in SF, I had dirty transmission fluid, and I decided to go to A+ on a weekend for a full transmission fluid flush. I turned up at A+ with my own ATF and filter, but Naaem insisted that his techs take a look at it before recommending what action to take. In the end, they recommended that I do two drain-and-fills back-to-back for $175 including OEM ATF, which apparently is something they do quite often. This ended up being cheaper than the labor alone for a full flush, which would have been $200+ (not the lowest quote I got, but within reason). They also asked me to go back after 500miles for a follow-up check to make sure everything is ok.A+ may not be the cheapest around, but it's reasonable, and I like that they were trying to determine what was the best course of action rather than just doing what I thought should be done and earning more money from it. Very good customer experience overall. For fixes other than simple DIYs like oil/filter/spark plug changes, I'd go back to A+.

Brought my Lexus IS here for service recently after wanting to see if I could get a better price on repairs that were pricey at the dealership service department. I know this was a locally owned business and thought it would be nice to support a home grown place. Called on a Friday afternoon to request a quote on replacing my water pump and rear brakes. I was told they could fit me in on Monday morning and so brought my car in first thing. The service advisor that I worked with was very attentive. He suggested services in addition to what I originally brought my car in for which I declined. My car needed to be kept overnight and they arranged a rental car for me and also picked up the bill. They used Lexus brand parts and guaranteed their work for 2 years. When I picked up my car, I noticed that it was detailed. The overall price for the service was quite good and fair compared to the dealership.
